BOATLOG CENTRAL's THIRD WATCH BOAT MONITOR

Boatlog Central's Third Watch is a highly sophisticated and customizable system that keeps an eye on your boat when you can't be there. It can be configured any way you want, just for your boat. Third Watch hooks up to any Windows laptop computer (not included) and can monitor up to four analog inputs and eight digital inputs offering a wide variety of actions and events you can keep an eye on. Once you install the device, the system uses the laptop's Internet connection to report the status of your boat's systems to your own Boatlog Central portal.

Two analog inputs on the standard Third Watch are reserved for temperature: one for the temperature of the cabin where you install the device and the other for the temperature of your engine compartment. The first digital input is reserved for the detection of 120v shore power. All the other analog and digital inputs can be set up any way you wish. Some ideas are as follows:

Digital (8 available):

  • Shore Power - Just plug Third Watch into any 120v outlet and the system will report the presence of shore power. Third Watch gets its own power from the USB port on the laptop, so it doesn't need shore power to operate.
  • High Water - You can hook up any standard float switch to Third Watch and the system will report the presence of high water in your bilge.
  • Door Sensor - Connect any standard door limit switch to Third Watch and you will know any time the door is opened or closed.
  • Low Temperature - Connect a simple fool-proof mechanical temperature limit switch as a backup for your temperature readings. When the temperature exceeds your preset limit, you will know about it.
  • Position Indicator - Connect Third Watch to your GPS anchor alarm and get notification if your boat moves beyond your predetermined set points.

Analog (4 Available):

  • Cabin Temperature - The system reads the temperature in the cabin where you install Third Watch and reports that to your web portal.
  • Engine Compartment Temperature - A second temperature sensor is designated for your engine compartment so you can keep track of whether your bilge heaters are operating properly.
  • House Battery Voltage - Connect Third Watch to your house battery bank and keep track of the voltage. If you charger fails, you will know about it and can even set a low voltage alert message.
  • Starting Battery Voltage - Connect Third Watch to your starting battery bank and keep track of the voltage. If you charger fails, you will know about it and can even set a low voltage alert message.
  • Other Temperature - You can use the analog ports on Third Watch to monitor additional temperatures as well. Contact us if you have a custom requirement for additional ambient range temperature sensors or if you need to measure high temperatures.
